John obtained his doctorate from the University of Oxford where he studied at Nuffield College.

Dr Maria Belizón
Assistant Professor of Human Resource Management and Employment Relations at ICADE Business School
Maria is Assistant Professor of Human Resource Management and Employment Relations at ICADE Business School, Madrid, and Visiting Professor, University College Dublin. From 2015 to 2023 she was Assistant Professor of HRM at University College Dublin. She holds a Ph.D. in Management from the University of Limerick. Her research and teaching focus on HR analytics, HRM/industrial relations in multinational companies, and job quality.

Dr Juliet Hassard
Reader in Organisation, Work and Leadership in Queen’s University Belfast Business School
Juliet is Reader in Organisation, Work and Leadership in Queen’s University Belfast Business School. She is an occupational health psychologist. Her research examines the design and development of psychologically safe and healthy workplaces through working systems, management and leadership practices, and organisational policies. A recipient of the American Psychological Association/NIOSH Career Achievement Award (2021), Juliet is an Executive Committee Member of the European Academy for Occupational Health Psychology. She regularly engages in knowledge-exchange with policy, business, and international organisations, including invited contributions to the Council of Europe. Her work has informed major initiatives such as the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work’s Healthy Workplaces Manage Stress campaign.

Dr David Jordan
Lecturer in Economics at Queen's Business School
David is Lecturer in Economics at Queen's Business School. His research focuses on regional and public economics, alongside economic and financial history. He is particularly interested in the economics of devolution, economic productivity, and the long-run performance of Northern Ireland’s economy. He is Lead of the Northern Ireland Productivity Forum.

Paul MacFlynn
Co-Director of the Nevin Economic Research Institute
Paul is Co-Director of the Nevin Economic Research Institute and is based in the Belfast office. He has co-responsibility for the NERI's research programme and for its strategic direction. He leads on the NERI’s analysis of the Northern Ireland economy along with all research into the impact of the United Kingdom‘s departure from the European Union. Other research areas include regional productivity, the all-island economy and the future of work. He is a graduate of University College Dublin with a BA in Economics and Politics and the University of Bristol with an MSc in Economics and Public Policy.

Julien is Head of the School of Geography, University College Dublin. Julien received his PhD from UCLA (Los Angeles, USA). His research focuses on the marketisation of health and social care systems, social policy and critical political economy.

Prof. John Turner

John is Director of Research at Queen’s University Belfast Business School. He is Professor of Finance and Financial History. His research is focussed on the long-run evolution and development of banking, banking crises, bubbles, financial markets, and labour productivity and employee skills. He was elected a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in 2018.

Dr Lisa Wilson
Senior Economist at the Nevin Economic Research Institute
Lisa is Senior Economist at the Nevin Economic Research Institute, and Adjunct Associate Professor UCD College of Business. Her main research interests lie in the areas of labour markets, job quality, income distribution, poverty, public expenditure, and living standards. Lisa holds a PhD from Queen’s University, Belfast. She serves as an independent expert to the Minister for Economy in Northern Ireland, offering strategic guidance on initiatives related to 'good jobs'.

Chris Smart
Economist working at the Land Development Agency
Chris Smart is an economist working at the Land Development Agency and formerly at the Nevin Economic Research Institute. He is a graduate of University College Dublin and University of Galway. His research interests include productivity and working conditions, and is a member of the Productivity Liaison Group and the Macro Statistics Liaison Group.
